Waste Incineration Plants for Disposal, Electrical Power, and Community Heat
Mar 28, 2023
A modern waste incineration plant consists of a facility for the segregation for recycling and a storage area for the waste convenient to the furnace. The furnace temperature is strictly regulated by gas, coal or oil burners and once up to temperature the waste is loaded into the furnace. This is carried out using a conveyor or overhead crane that supplies the waste to the furnace hopper and as the waste burns to ash, it is rejected to a water quench and collection bin. A waste heat water tube boiler is incorporated in the furnace; producing superheated steam used to drive steam turbine electric power generators. The combustion fumes are treated before being emitted to atmosphere through a high chimney.
