Is Antimatter Real?

What is antimatter? Is it real and something that can be demonstrated, or is it only a matter for abstract science? It is actually the opposite of matter. Since normal matter is composed of particles, antimatter is composed of antiparticles. The positron and the antiproton are the antiparticles of the electron and the proton respectively. After extensive antimatter experimentation, it has be proven that these antiparticles truly exist. Potential or rather fictional applications include antimatter engines, propulsion systems and weapons. Where is all the missing antimatter? It is rare and can only be observed in the upper atmosphere, at the top of thunderstorms where antimatter is ejected into space and in galactic centers.
